BERKELEY – Jared Goff will start at quarterback for Cal in Saturday’s game at Washington head coach Sonny Dykes announced Friday.

Goff, a true freshman, has started the team’s first seven games and ranks in the top 10 nationally in completions per game (6th, 26.6 cpg), passing yards (7th, 2,256) and passing yards per game (10th, 322.3 ypg). He is also third in the Pac-12 in passing yards per game. Goff has completed 186-of-308 passes (60.4%) with nine touchdowns and seven interceptions for a 127.01 passer efficiency rating over his first seven collegiate contests. Goff set Cal’s single-game record when he threw for 504 yards against Washington State on October 5.

Redshirt freshman Zach Kline will be listed as the backup quarterback on the team’s depth chart for the Washington game.

The starting quarterback position had been listed as an “or” between Goff and Kline on the team’s previous depth chart released Tuesday.

The Golden Bears and Huskies are scheduled to kick off Saturday from Husky Stadium at 8 p.m. PT. The contest will be televised live by FOX Sports 1.
