Co-captain for second year...a two-time pommel horse champion and was the Bears' top performer of 2007...the national champion on pommel horse and parallel bars...three-time All-American...delivered an exceptional all-around performance at the NCAA Championships, where he posted new career highs on pommel horse (9.650 in the final individual round) and rings (9.700 in team competition)...recovering from shoulder surgery last summer...currently tied for most individual NCAA titles in school history, a record Weiner believes McNeill will break.
2007: Won the 2007 NCAA Championships on pommel horse and parallel bars, making him the second Golden Bear ever to win two NCAA titles in the same year and the first to repeat as a national champion on a particular event...had the team's season highs on three different events: horse (9.650 at NCAA individual championships), rings (9.700 in NCAA team competition) and parallel bars (9.800 in the first round of NCAA individual competition)...posted above a 9.450 in every event but three at the NCAAs...helped the Golden Bears win parallel bars at MPSF Championships with a meet-high 9.350...came in second among all gymnasts on pommel horse with an 8.850 at MPSFs...helped Cal finish second at the Stanford Open (Jan. 27) with a first-place performance on pommel horse (9.450) and a second-place showing on parallel bars...was only one of only two gymnasts to win two events at the Pacific Coast Challenge, where he took first on pommel horse (9.150) and parallel bars (9.650)...named NCAA Division I National Gymnast of the Week on Feb. 22 after his performance at the Big Flip.
2006: Won the 2006 national championship on pommel horse at the NCAA meet, leading the Bears to a fifth-place team finish...captured the all-around title at MPSF Championships with a combined score of 55.325...at the MPSF Championships, McNeill posted above a 9.000 on five out of the six events and took two individual titles on pommel horse (9.325) and parallel bars (9.700)...his 9.700 on the parallel bars at the MPSF Championships not only was a new career high, but it was also the highest score for any event at the competition...selected the National Gymnast of the Week on March 13 and MPSF Gymnast of the Week on Feb. 27...scored over 9.000 in four of the five events he competed in at the Pacific Coast Classic...set new career marks this season in almost every individual event this season...Academic All-MPSF scholar-athletes.
2005: Opened the season extremely strong for the Bears before facing injury setbacks...helped Cal defeat Stanford and Air Force at the Cardinal Open, finishing first on both pommel horse (9.425) and high bar (9.15)...posted scores of 9.400 on pommel horse and 9.450 on parallel bars to finish second in both events in his first collegiate meet ...tied for third in the vault at the MPSF individual championships with a score of 9.250...finished fourth on pommel horse (9.600) at the NCAA Championships individual competition and fifth on vault (9.300)...NCAA All-American on pommel horse and vault.
