Between The Lanes, Episode 3

Hey, Bear fans!

This week we're giving you an inside look at our dryland training routine (and rockin' team environment). We've been transitioning in the weight room, as we just started working with our new strength coach, Joel Smith. Joel is an invaluable addition to our program and he creates a space where we can get a lot of work done, but also have a lot of fun. His focus on movement and execution really requires us to not only stay engaged in what we're doing during each portion of the workout, but to focus on the little things day in and day out.

But, with that in mind, the team never ceases to add a little bit of spunk to every aspect of an intense workout! You can't walk into the weight room at Haas when we're in there without seeing an overwhelming amount of dance moves and laughter. Like they always say, “Happy swimmers are fast swimmers!”

About the Blog

For the 2015-16 season, a group of five Golden Bears – a regular blog squad – will be producing Between the Lanes segments, both video and written, to give fans an inside look at Cal's women's swimming & diving team. The crew is made up of Marina Garcia, Valerie Hull, Catherine Ladd, Katie McLaughlin and Maija Roses (video executive producer).
