BERKELEY, Calif. - The California Golden Bears baseball program has welcomed nine new student-athletes to the program and the #CalFamily. All nine California natives have officially submitted their National Letters of Intent to join head coach David Esquer and the Golden Bears. The Bears have added right-handed pitchers Jared Horn (Vintage HS) and Rogelio Reyes (James Logan HS), left-handed pitchers Arman Sabouri (Branham HS) and Jack Wolger (Jesuit HS), outfielder Max Flower (Campolindo HS), infielders Conner Bock (Sage Hill HS), Cameron Eden (Yuba City HS), Anthony Walters (Tustin HS) and Andrew Vaughn (Maria Carrillo HS).

"We are really excited with the signing of our 2016 class," Esquer said. "It has great balance between pitching and hitting. Many will have an immediate impact on our program. Coaches (Brad) Sanfilippo and (Thomas) Eager have done a great job recrutiting this group and our fan base will have the opportunity to get to know these student-athletes soon."

  • Was the first to submit his letter of intent in the 2016 class

Anthony Walters – INF – Tustin HS – Chino, Calif.

  • Has played on a varsity team since his freshman year (played two years at Bishop Amat HS)
  • 2014-15 as a junior - .312 BA, .420 OBP with 17 RBI and nine 2B in 96 AB in 32 games played during his first year with the Tillers
  • 2013-14 as a sophomore - .284 BA with five RBI, 16 runs scored and four 2B in 102 AB in 32 games at Bishop Amat

Andrew Vaughn – RHP – Maria Carrillo HS – Santa Rosa, Calif.

  • Has been on the Maria Carrillo varsity team since he was a freshman
  • Career stats – 3-2 with a 2.60 ERA with 85 K's in 67.1 IP, .399 BA with a .486 OBP with 57 RBI with 20 2B in 81 games played
  • 2014-15 as a junior – Made 14 appearances as a reliever with a 2.92 ERA and had 45 K's in 36 IP, .440 BA, .551 OBP with 16 RBI with 5 2B in 75 AB

  • All-Tournament selection at the NorCal World Series in 2014-15
  • Second Team All-League in the Diablo Foothill Athletic League in 2014-15 as a junior
  • First Team All-League in the Diablo Foothill Athletic League in 2013-14 as a sophomore, when he was teammates with current Bears Matt Ladrech and Denis Karas
  • Also plays football (WR)

Jared Horn – INF/RHP – Vintage HS – Napa, Calif.

  • Career stats - .300 BA, 3 HR, 33 RBI in 150 AB and is 4-5 with a 2.35 ERA with 67 K's in 62.2 IP
  • 2014-15 as a junior - .319 BA, 3 HR, 20 RBI in 91 AB at the plate and 2-1 with a 1.50 ERA with 26 K's in 28 IP in relief with 2 saves
  • 2013-14 as a sophomore - .271 BA, 0 HR, 13 RBI in 59 AB at the plate and 2-4 with a 3.03 ERA with 41 K's in 34.2 IP, making three starts

  • Uncle, Mike Wolger, owns the single-season batting average record for Cal with a .432 average in 1995

Arman Sabouri – LHP – Branham HS – San Jose, Calif.

  • Has been on the Branham varsity team since his freshman year
  • 2014-15 as a junior – 15-1 with a 0.92 ERA in 13 starts with 126 K's to just 18 BB's in 91 IP
  • Threw eight complete games and three shutouts
  • 2013-14 as a sophomore – 8-2 with a 1.60 ERA in 19 appearances (14 starts) with 80 K's in 78.2 IP
