Bears Wrap Up Trip To Texas
AUSTIN, Texas -- Three days at the Texas Diving Invitational gave the Cal diving team a chance to test itself against quality competition and the Bears responded with some encouraging results as they brought several highlights back to Berkeley after Saturday's final day of competition.
Freshman Phoebe LaMay provided a definite highlight for the three days in Austin, turning in a strong performance in the 1-meter on Friday. The native of Houston, Texas enjoyed her return to the Lone Star State, finishing second to only Texas' Meghan Houston with a score of 313.25.
LaMay wasn't the only Cal diver in the mix for the 1-meter as senior Anne Kastler also turned in a strong performance to finish sixth with a score of 296.80. Kastler proved impressive again on Saturday as she posted a score of 226.35 to finish eighth in the platform.
Fellow Bear Sara-Lina Boushakra ended her meet on a strong note, finishing a team-high seventh in the platform with a score of 231.00. All three of Cal's female divers finished in the top 15 in points, with Lamay seventh, Kastler eighth and Boushakra 15th.
Peter Cyr represented the Bears on the men's side and finished 12th in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
