California Golden Bears Athletics

TUSCON, Ariz. – California defeated Arizona State, 26-10, and Utah, 24-17, Saturday at the PAC Rugby 7s Championship, qualifying the Golden Bears for an 11 a.m. MST Sunday semifinal against UCLA at Kino Stadium. 

The PAC 7s semifinal between the Bears and Bruins kicks off a live national broadcast Sunday on Pac-12 Networks, running from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Pac-12 Networks will also air the second semifinal between host Arizona and ASU all the way through the championship final at 12:45 p.m. MST/11:45 PT.
 
Cal (13-1) got its scoring from seven different student-athletes Saturday, with three Rugby Bears — sophomore Keanu Andrade and seniors Matthew Coyle and Thomas Robles — netting 10 points apiece. Andrade and Robles each scored two tries, while Coyle connected on 5-of-8 conversion kicks. 

Sunday's semifinal repeats the same setting in which Cal and UCLA last met, which ended as a 33-5 victory for the Blue and Gold at the 2016 PAC 7s semis.

If the Bears can advance to Sunday's championship final, Cal will have the opportunity to compete for a sixth straight conference 7s title.
