LOS ANGELES – The early season honors continue for Cal forward Kristine Anigwe, who was named to the John R. Wooden Award® Women's Preseason Top 30 on Tuesday. Selected by a preseason poll of national women's basketball media members, Anigwe is one of six players from the Pac-12 on the Top 30 watch list, tied for the most by any conference.  The full list of nominees can be found here.

Midseason and late season watch lists for the John R. Wooden Award Women's Player of the Year will be announced later in the winter, with the winner announced during the ESPN College Basketball Awards presented by Wendy's on Friday, April 6, 2018.

A two-time All-America Honorable mention, Anigwe was recently named to the 20-player watch list for the Katrina McClain Award, which will be awarded to the top power forward in the nation. A 6'4" forward from Phoenix, Arizona, Anigwe led the Bears in scoring (21.0 points per game), rebounding (9.3 rebounds per game), field goal percentage (56.6 percent), and blocked shots (2.1 blocks per game) last season, ranking in the Top-50 nationally in all four categories.

A unanimous Preseason All-Pac-12 Selection, Anigwe led Cal with 17 points in the Bears' 87-80 season-opening win over Saint Mary's. Anigwe scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half, while also adding four rebounds, two blocks, and two steas.

Anigwe and the 20th-ranked Golden Bears head to the East Coast, taking on top-ranked Connecticut at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on Friday at Gampel Pavilion. Cal wraps up its trip to New England on Sunday, taking on Brown University at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT.
