BERKELEY – Inanna Eshoo, who played beach volleyball at Cal in 2015, has returned to the program as a volunteer assistant coach.
Eshoo played her senior season for the Golden Bears – the second year of the program's existence. She also played for Cal's club indoor volleyball team.
"It's always been obvious how much Inanna loves the game," Cal head coach Meagan Owusu said. "She is continuously looking for different opportunities to learn and grow, and is a student of the game. She absolutely loves the game and is always looking forward to every opportunity to improve as a player and coach."
Eshoo has coached Cal's indoor club team and local community clubs as well. As a student-athlete, she won the Golden Bear Award – given to the person with the highest GPA on each team at Cal.
"It's great to see how much the program has progressed," Eshoo said. "The sport has gotten so much bigger. It's an exciting time to be a part of college beach volleyball."
The Bears finished last season ranked No. 20 in the country. They open the 2018 season on Feb. 24 with a tri-meet against Saint Mary's and Pacific.
