EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France – Cal seniors Collin Morikawa and KK Limbhasut will play in the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup this Friday-Sunday at the Evian Resort Golf Club. Morikawa is representing Team USA for the second consecutive season after helping the Americans to a victory over Team Europe at the 2017 Arnold Palmer Cup while Limbhasut will play for Team International at the annual event. Team USA leads the all-time series, 11-9-1.

"It is such an honor to represent Arnold Palmer and Team USA again," Morikawa said. "This will be my first event in Europe and it should be a memorable time playing in France. Having KK on the International team is awesome. It was definitely a goal for both of us."

"It is a huge honor to represent Team International in the Arnold Palmer Cup," Limbhasut said. "I am very excited to be a part of this prestigious event honoring Mr. Palmer. Collin and I have been talking about facing each other in this event for months now and it might come true. It is definitely something we look forward to because we've never played against each other in head-to-head competition. We have always been on the same team whether it was at the Wyndham Cup or here at Cal."

"This is great experience for Collin and KK," Alex and Marie Shipman Director of Men's Golf Walter Chun added. "Both have worked so hard, and it's great to see their hard work come to fruition. It's a special feeling to play and represent your country."

The pairings for the first 12 mixed four-ball matches of the Ryder Cup-style event on Friday's opening day were announced Thursday. Morikawa and Andrea Lee will play in Match 3 against Hurly Long and Patty Tavatanakit from Team International, while Limbhasut and Pimnipa Panthong will take on Team USA's Zach Bauchou and Dylan Kim in Match 8.

Saturday's play will start with a dozen mixed foursome matches in the morning followed by 12 more mixed four-ball matches in the afternoon. The event will conclude with 24 singles matches Sunday. Matches begin Friday at 8:30 am and Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 am local times. Evian-les-Bains is nine hours ahead of the Pacific Time Zone.

The 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup will be the first using the expanded format of United States men's and women's collegiate golfers versus their counterparts from around the world. Both the United States and Team International will field a total of 24 players (12 male, 12 female) for a total of 48 players participating in the event.

Morikawa and Limbhasut will become only the second duo of Cal players to participate together in the same Arnold Palmer Cup. Cal had three players play in the 2013 event when Michael Kim and Michael Weaver participated for Team USA, while Joël Stalter competed against his collegiate teammates as a member of Team Europe.

Limbhasut will become the seventh player in Cal men's golf history to play in the event with Brandon Hagy (2014) and Peter Tomasulo (2003) the others in addition to Morikawa and the trio in 2013. Morikawa will become the first Cal player to participate twice. There have been nine Golden Bears involved with the event as former head coach Steve Desimone was the Team USA head coach in 2014 and Chun an assistant coach for the Americans in 2009. All Cal selections have represented Team USA other than Stalter and Limbhasut.
