BERKELEY — The Golden Bears welcome generations of former players back to Witter Rugby Field Saturday, March 16, for Homecoming. Gates open at 10 a.m. and California kicks off against Utah at 1 p.m preceded by an 11 a.m. curtain raiser against Humboldt State.

Special recognition is planned at Saturday's Homecoming celebration for the 25th Reunion of the 1994 National Collegiate Champions, the 20th Reunion of the 1999 National Collegiate Champions and the 15th Reunion of the 2004 National Champions. All alumni are invited to enjoy a post-match Homecoming Reception at Witter Rugby Field from 3-5 p.m. after the Blue and Gold have played the Utes and Lumberjacks.

The Bears (10-1, 2-0) come back to Berkeley after a three-match road trip, having shut out UCLA in conference play on March 9, six days after their four-point loss at British Columbia for their first loss of 2019. Cal is also making a Friday night trip to Santa Cara University on March 15 for a 6 p.m. kickoff before hosting Homecoming the following day.

Utah (2-2, 1-1 PAC) makes the trip to Strawberry Canyon for this PAC Rugby Conference clash following the Utes' 46-10 home win over Utah State on March 9. Utah also defeated Boise State, 55-22, at home on Feb. 2, but dropped its two road matches to date in 2019, losing at Arizona State, 32-27, on Jan. 26; and at UCLA, 41-8, on Feb. 9.

The last meeting between Cal and Utah was on McClatchy Field in Salt Lake City on March 17, 2018, when the Bears finished a sweep of their PAC conference schedule with a starting lineup including seven frosh-sophs, shutting out the Utes in the snow behind three tries from Sam Cusano and four from Justin Dunn.

Advance tickets to Homecoming on March 16 and all home matches for the Blue and Gold are available at CalBears.com. Admission to Witter Rugby Field is $10 each for adults, $5 each for youth ages 10-19 and seniors 65 and older, and $3 each for groups of 10 or more. All Cal students are admitted free, as are all active and veteran military with valid ID.

Homecoming marks the first of three weekends remaining in the regular season for the Golden Bears. Cal will host Arizona March 23 in what could be the PAC Rugby Conference decider, followed by Saint Mary's College on March 30.
