Last Time: Cal Takes Fourth Place In Indian Wells
Cal began its defense of the championship at the BNP Paribas Open Collegiate Tennis Challenge in typical fashion – beating Purdue, 4-0, on March 15. (Cal's beaten Purdue in the first round for three straight seasons.) Golden Bear junior Bjorn Hoffmann clinched that victory by beating Maksymilian Raupuk, 6-1, 7-5, at court-four singles. But the Bears lost to top-seeded Baylor, 4-0, in March 16's semifinals and then fell to Arizona State, 4-3, in the March 17 third-place match.

Next Time
Cal hosts USC on March 29 and UCLA on March 30 in a pair of Pac-12 matches.
