AUSTIN, Texas – A night after setting a pair of American records at the NCAA Championships, Cal came back strong again Friday, eclipsing two all-time school marks and catapulting into the overall team lead.

With one day of competition remaining, the Golden Bears have accumulated 328 points, with Stanford second with 299.5 and Michigan third with 233. Senior Katie McLaughlin broke Natalie Coughlin's 17-year-old school record in the 100-yard butterfly, and freshman Ema Rajic snapped the Cal mark for the 100-yard breaststroke.

In the 100 fly, McLaughlin raced to the wall in 49.97, which was good for third place. Her time broke one of the oldest records at Cal - Coughlin's mark of 50.01 from the 2002 season. Freshman Isabel Ivey also earned a place in the A final and claimed sixth in a personal-best 50.82, while junior Maddie Murphy was 15th overall in 52.12.

With strong morning heats, Cal put three swimmers into the 200 free final and came away with 38 points toward the team total. Abbey Weitzeil led the way with a fourth-place finish in 1:42.29, while McLaughlin was seventh in 1:43.53 and Robin Neumann eighth in 1:43.72.

Rajic had a big breakthrough during the morning qualifying when she swam 58.97 in the 100 breaststroke, snapping Caitlin Leverenz's 2012 school record of 59.20. Rajic came back in the evening and finished eighth in the A final in 59.43, the highest finish for a Golden Bear in the event in 12 years.

As it did in the 200 free, Cal also had three scorers in the 100 back and were led by Amy Bilquist and Ivey in the A final. Both produced lifetime-best swims, with Bilquist taking second in 50.05 and Ivey fourth in 50.42. Just before their race, junior Keaton Blovad captured the B final in 51.39. With her performance, Bilquist moves up to ninth in NCAA history in the event and becomes the fifth Golden Bear in the top 10.

Senior Phoebe LaMay, who placed 15th on the 1-meter springboard Thursday, just missed getting into the scoring column again, finishing 18th on 3-meter with a season-best score of 304.70.

Cal closed out the session with a runner-up performance in the 200 medley relay, as Ivey, Rajic, Murphy and Weitzeil touched a fraction behind Tennessee in 1:34.43.

The NCAA Championships conclude Saturday, with morning prelims starting at 7 a.m. PT. ESPNU will televised the finals live, beginning at 3 p.m. PT.
