STANFORD, Calif. – After two school records and 15-top five finishes on the first day of the Stanford Invitational, the California track & field team returned to Cobb Track & Angell Field with two wins and a national record on Saturday.
Camryn Rogers sets the school mark in the hammer while Annie Boos claimed the 3000m steeplechase record in Friday's action. That was a preamble for two wins and six top-five finishes as part of Saturday's competition.
Silviu Bocancea recorded the third-best hammer throw in school record as he set a personal best. Bocancea won the competition with a throw of 67.93m/222-10 on his fifth attempt. The quartet of Deshae Wise, Zion Corrales Nelson, Maisie Stevens and Jackie Patterson ran 45.45 to claim the win. The men's 4x100m relay team of Diab Davis, Paramveer Chohan, Jasheer Foster and Branndon Marion took third place with a season-best time of 40.84.
Benjamin Micallef set the Maltese National record in the 800m as he recorded a personal best of 1:51.54. The previous record had stood since 1995 when Xandru Grech recorded a time of 1:52.54.
Joshua Johnson moved into a tie for seventh place on the school's all-time record book. Johnson took fourth place as he increased his personal best by nearly 1.5 feet. The new mark move him into a tie with Amin Nikfar on the school's list.
