IRVING, Tex. – The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced Wednesday that four student-athletes from the 2018 Cal football team – Jake Ashton, Ian Bunting, Patrick Laird and Moe Ways – have been selected to the 2019 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football student-athletes from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers. Selections must have completed their final season of collegiate eligibility in 2018. Student-athletes who have graduated or turned professional and are not returning to collegiate football are also among the selections.

Jake Ashton, Cal 2014-18, TE, 6-4, 235, Indio, CA/Michigan/Xavier College Prep
3.32 Cumulative GPA; Undergraduate Major – Business Administration; Graduate Major – Education
• Played in 19 games all off the bench during the final four seasons of his five campaigns at Cal from 2014-18, making his Cal debut by playing in the first two games of the season as a 2015 redshirt freshman, getting into one contest as a 2016 sophomore, three as a 2017 junior and a career-high all 13 as a 2018 senior after redshirting as a 2014 true freshman
• Had his first statistics other than participation as a senior when he caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Chase Garbers on his first career reception against Idaho State and equaled his career high with one reception for three yards at Arizona
• Had all five of his career tackles as a senior when he was one of Cal's top players on special teams
Ian Bunting, Cal 2018, TE, 6-7, 255, Hinsdale, IL/Michigan/Hinsdale HS
3.50 Cumulative GPA; Undergraduate Major – Organizational Studies; Graduate Major – Public Health
• Played in all 13 games with four starts and contributed 18 receptions for 195 yards receiving while adding one kick return for five yards in his single season at Cal in 2018 after transferring from Michigan
• Played in 47 games with 12 starts and contributed 28 receptions for 313 yards receiving during his collegiate career at Michigan (2014-17) and Cal (2018) with his teams playing in a bowl game in each of his four seasons on the field (2015-18) after he redshirted his first season at Michigan in 2014
• Played in the 2019 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl
Patrick Laird, Cal 2014-18, RB, 6-0, 205, Arroyo Grande, CA/Mission Prep
3.57 Cumulative GPA; Undergraduate Double Major – Business Administration and Political Science
• Played in 41 games with 21 starts and rushed for 2153 yards with 14 touchdowns on the ground over 425 carries, while adding 99 receptions for 608 yards receiving and five touchdowns for totals of 2761 all-purpose yards and 19 touchdowns as well as one successful two-point conversion reception to total 116 points
• Recorded career highs of 223 rushes, 51 receptions and four touchdown catches as a 2018 senior with the receptions the most in recorded history by a Cal running back while also picking up his lone two career tackles
• Set many of his offensive season career highs during his 2017 junior campaign with 1127 yards rushing, eight touchdowns on the ground, 322 yards receiving and 1449 all-purpose yards
Moe Ways, Cal 2018, WR, 6-4, 220, Detroit, MI/Michigan/Detroit Country Day School
3.35 Cumulative GPA; Undergraduate Major – International Studies; Graduate Major – Public Health
• Played in a collegiate career-high 13 games with eight starts in his lone season at Cal in 2018 as a graduate transfer from Michigan and contributed collegiate career highs of 34 receptions and 383 yards receiving as well as his lone career touchdown
• Played in 39 games with 10 starts and combined for 42 receptions, 454 yards receiving and one touchdown catch during his collegiate career at Michigan (2014-17) and Cal (2018) with his teams playing in a bowl game in each of his four seasons on the field (2015-18) after he redshirted his first season at Michigan in 2014
