URBANA, Ill. –The California men's tennis pair of Yuta Kikuchi and Carl Emil Overbeck came from behind to defeat a Middle Tennessee State duo in their NCAA Doubles Championship opener on Tuesday and advance to Wednesday's round of 16 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. The 28th-ranked Kikuchi and Overbeck beat the 70th-ranked Francisco Rocha and Oskar Brostrom Poulsen, 4-6, 7-6(6), 1-0(7).
 
The Bears improved their record to 17-9.
 
On Wednesday at a time TBA, Overbeck and Kikuchi play the winner of Tuesday's match between TCU's top-seeded Jacob Fearnley and Luc Fomba and VCU's 33rd-ranked team of twins Charles and Maxence Bertimon.
