Cal Returns Home To Host SJSU
Bears’ Seek Sixth Straight Home Win
The California women's basketball team (6-3) returns to Haas Pavilion for the first matchup of a two-game homestand and will take on San Jose State (0-7) on Sunday at 2 p.m. PT.
At the game, Cal Athletics along with the Berkeley Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is hosting a One Warm Coat Drive. Please bring your gently worn coats to the front lobby of Haas Pavilion and give the gift of warmth to those in need.
The Golden Bears will look to extend their five-game home winning streak and win their 17th straight nonconference game at Haas Pavilion dating back to the 2023-24 season.
This marks the 37th meeting between the two programs in a series that dates back to the 1975-76 season. Cal owns a 26-10 advantage in the series and has won the last two matchups and three of the last four. In last season's contest,
Lulu Twidale had 14 points and three 3-pointers.
San Jose State is led by first-year head coach Jonas Chatterton and returns six players from last season's team and welcomes eight new players. The Spartans are led by their leading scorer Maya Anderson (12.0 ppg) who also ranks second on the team in rebounding at 6.0 rebounds per game.
Sunday's game will be streamed on ACCNX with Dave Benz and Ashlee Jones on the call.

In the 68-67 loss to Missouri on Thursday:
- Gisella Maul posted her first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.
- Two other Bears finished with career highs as Mjracle Sheppard had 18 points and Sakima Walker blocked six shots.
- For the first time this season, five players scored in double figures: Sheppard, Walker (12), Twidale (11), Maul and Taylor Barnes (10).
- After Missouri came into the game averaging 80.1 points per game, Cal held the Tigers to their lowest scoring output of the season.
- The Bears had a one-point lead with the ball with 10 seconds left but had a turnover on the ensuing inbounds pass and Missouri scored on the next possession for the game winner with 1.2 seconds left.

- Sheppard has swiped at least two steals in six of nine games this season and ranks 11th in the ACC with 18 on the season.
- Walker has blocked at least two shots in six of nine games and five straight and ranks third in the ACC with 18 on the season.
- Twidale is averaging 3.2 per game over the last five and has hit four triples in three of the last five and is seven away from passing former teammate Ioanna Krimili for the fourth spot on Cal's all-time career list.
- Maul is having a career year in rebounding while coming off the bench. She is averaging 5.1 boards per game (previous best was 1.5) and has led the team in rebounds in three games already this year.
After averaging just 4.3 triples per game for the first three games, Cal is now averaging
8.0 over its last six contests.
