BERKELEY – Senior middle blocker Lillian Schonewise was named to the AVCA All-Pacific North Region Honorable Mention Team on Tuesday for the second consecutive season.

Schonewise had one of the best offensive seasons in Cal history, registering a .374 hitting percentage, which is the sixth-best mark ever at Cal. She averaged 3.12 kills per set, second among all Pac-12 middle blockers.

Schonewise hit over .500 seven times during the 2015 season and over .400 12 times. She also had some of her best matches of the season against top competition. Schonewise had 16 kills and hit for a staggering .650 percentage against No. 4 Washington on Oct. 23 – the Huskies entered that match leading the nation in opponents hitting percentage. In the rematch against the then-No. 3 Huskies on Nov. 15, she had 14 kills and hit .478.

Schonewise also registered a season-high 20 kills at a .576 percentage against No. 6 Stanford. In two matches against the Cardinal this season, she averaged 3.88 kills per set at a .491 hitting percentage.

Schonewise becomes the 25th All-Region selection in Cal history, and the 22nd since 2002. Schonewise, who was an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention last season, is just the sixth Cal player ever to earn All-Region honors multiple times. Schonewise was named to the All-Pac-12 Team last week.
