21 Bears Earn MPSF All-Academic Honors

Cal Track & Field Excels In The Classroom During Indoor Season

WOODLAND, Calif. – A total of 21 California track and field student-athletes have been recognized for their successes in the classroom, earning Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic honors.
 
12 members from the men's team and nine from the women's received recognition, upping the Bears; total of 18 members during the 2018 season.
 
Tyler Brendel had the highest overall GPA of both teams, with a 3.922. Garrett Corcoran marked his fourth-consecutive year being honored on this list as he sported the second-highest GPA of 3.850. Brie Oakley comes in at third overall with a GPA of 3.835, also setting the bar for the women's team.
 
Several Bears made their second-consecutive appearance on the list, including Kai Benedict, Diab Davis, Malik McMorris, Paul Zeiss, Ariane Arndt and Rebecca Croft.
 
To earn a spot on the team, student-athletes must have at least a 3.0 GPA, be at least a sophomore academically, completed one full academic year at Cal and have competed in at least 50 percent of a team's competitions during the 2019 indoor season.
