FRESNO – California punctuated its tournament title at the Fresno State Invitational on Sunday with a dismantling 13-1 win over Monmouth, the programs' second-ever faceoff.

After tacking on a quick run in the opening frame, the 17th-ranked Golden Bears (23-3) recorded a four-run set in the top of the fourth to insure a smooth path to their undefeated weekend. For added comfort, Cal decided to drop in an eight-run half in the top of the seventh.

The bats swung the entire weekend for Cal who outscored its opponents 48-4 over the five-game stretch. The momentum lasted through the entire weekend as Cal posted a season-high 17 hits against the Hawks (6-7) Sunday.

"I thought we had a great weekend, with outstanding pitching performances from Zoe Conley and Kamalani Dung all weekend," said head coach Diane Ninemire. "Our bats were alive, we scored a lot of runs and had great base runnings. It was  great team effort in every way."

Bradie Fillmore was the first to make her way around the bases after drawing a walk to lead off the frame. Karlee Sparacino brought in Fillmore and RBI double before finding the plate on sac fly from Lindsay Rood to move ahead 3-0.

For the second consecutive day, Jazmyn Jackson cemented a productive half for the Bears on a two RBI double that brought in Sabrina Nunez and Marcella Kay.

A five-run cushion did not keep the Bears from posting nearly 10 more runs before things concluded and another collective effort at the plate rounded out what became an offensive onslaught. All, but one of Cal's starters scored at least one run while Krysten McCue found the plate twice as a pinch runner for Kobie Pettis and Taurie Pogue, who pinch hit found the plate once.

Kamalani Dung (13-0) was impressive in the circle once again with 12 strikeouts on the day, her second appearance of the weekend where she recorded at least 10 Ks.

"This is the kind of weekend you want to end your preseason with going into Pac-12 and knowing we're going to have some competitive teams in the upcoming weeks," Ninemire said.

Cal begins conference play on Friday at 3 p.m. (PT) with road trip to Corvallis, Ore., to take on the Oregon State Beavers in a three-game series. Saturday and Sunday's game are slated for noon starts. Last season, the Bears closed the regular season with a 2-1 series win over the Beavers.

"They're a great team and we're going to have to play our very best," she added.
