Cal Amateur Draws Final Tee Time Of Thursday’s Opening Round
ORLANDO, Fla. – Cal junior Collin Morikawa will play in his second PGA TOUR event as an amateur at the 2018 Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge this Thursday-Sunday, March 15-18. Morikawa earned an exemption to the event when he was selected by his Team USA teammates after helping the Americans win the 2017 Arnold Palmer Cup last June.
"It is such a big honor to be playing in this year's API," Morikawa said. "This tournament and Mr. Palmer represent so much more than just golf and to be a part of this event is so special. There's a great field this week, and I look forward to putting my game up against theirs."
"It's a wonderful opportunity for Collin to play at Bay Hill," Cal's Alex and Marie Shipman Director of Men's Golf Walter Chun added. "It's the generosity of the API that allows young men to get a sneak preview of their life-long dream of playing in a PGA TOUR event. I'm sure Collin feels very special and very grateful."
Live coverage of the 2018 Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard will be provided by NBC, Golf Channel, PGA TOUR Live and PGA TOUR Radio beginning Thursday at 7:30 am ET/4:30 am PT. Complete live television and radio coverage of the event can be accessed via PGATOUR.com.
Morikawa is scheduled to start Thursday's opening round from the 10th tee along with Talor Gooch and Sam Burns at 2:08 pm ET/11:08 am PT. The threesome is slated to begin Friday's second-round action from the first tee at 9:23 am ET/6:23 am PT.
Morikawa missed the cut in his previous PGA TOUR event in 2016 at the Safeway Open.
