16 Bears Earn Pac-12 All-Academic Recognition
BERKELEY – Fresh off a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championships, Cal earned more recognition on Monday, this time for its work in the classroom with 16 Golden Bears selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic team.
Amy Bilquist leads the group with first-team status for the second consecutive year. The media studies major has a 3.77 GPA in her junior year at Cal.
Senior
Maija Roses, with a 3.65 GPA in media studies, and junior
Jenna Campbell, with a 3.70 GPA in neurobiology, are repeat members of the all-academic second team, where they are joined by senior
Noemie Thomas (3.63 GPA in psychology) and junior
Alexa Cacao (3.67 GPA in American studies).
A total of 11 Bears were chosen honorable mention:

Alexa Buckley,
Chenoa Devine,
Maggie Gallagher,
Valerie Hull,
Phoebe LaMay,
Jasmine Mau,
Katie McLaughlin,
Maddie Murphy and
Courtney Mykkanen.
The conference academic announcement follows Cal's selection as a CSCAA Scholar All-American team for posting a combined 3.51 GPA during the fall semester. The Bears have been honored 16 consecutive semesters by the coaches' association – every time the award has been presented.
In the pool, Cal earned its 10th straight top 3 result at the NCAA Championships, which concluded this past Saturday. The Bears set five school records and Baker repeated as champion in the 200-yard backstroke when she set an American record with a time of 1:47.30.
To be eligible for selection to the Pac-12 All-Academic team, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and participate in at least half of their team's scheduled regular season events.
