The Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) promotes the academic, health, social, and athletic welfare of student-athletes by providing a faculty voice in the administration and oversight of intercollegiate athletic programs. The FAR plays a role in monitoring campus compliance with NCAA regulations and student-athlete eligibility to compete in university sanctioned practices and competitions. The FAR reports directly to the Chancellor.
The FAR serves on the Academic Senate’s
Faculty Athletics Council and the
University Athletics Board. In addition, the FAR participates in meetings with FARs from the other
Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) members.
Additional details about the role of the FAR can be found on the website for the Faculty Athletics Association (
https://www.ncaafara.org/) and the
NCAA FAR Handbook.
