Hamilton Headlines Pac-12 All-Academic Squad
SAN FRANCISCO – With a 3.75 cumulative grade point average and double major in legal studies and media studies,
Nick Hamilton headlines this year's Pac-12 All-Academic Team.
Â
Hamilton, who arrived in Berkeley as a walk-on with the prestigious Gates Millenium Scholarship, worked his way to an athletic scholarship this season. He is a co-captain with appearances in 30 games and seven starts this season, averaging a career-best 1.9 points as a significant contributor off the bench.
Â
Outside of his contributions on the court, Hamilton has been heavily involved in internships throughout the athletic department. He currently serves as an intern with the Cal Athletics Fund, assisting in executing annual giving, alumni relations, events and stewardship projects. In 2016, he interned with Cal's strategic communications and marketing units while also serving as a peer advisor and tutor for the UC Berkeley Athletic Study Center.
Â
Hamilton, who was also named to the 2016-17 NABC Honors Court last summer, intends to pursue a career in coaching or sports law.
Â
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and be either a starter or significant contributor.

The Bears open Pac-12 Tournament play against Stanford Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Calif. The action airs live on Pac-12 Network.
