BERKELEY – For the third time this season, Cal freshman Kitty Lynn Joustra has been named the MPSF Newcomer of the Week.

Joustra had a monster game in the No. 3 Bears' 15-6 victory over No. 9 UC Davis on Saturday. She scored three goals on three shots while also recording two assists, two steals, two earned exclusions and one earned penalty.

Cal has now taken home five Newcomer of the Week honors this season, with freshman Elli Protopapas winning the award twice. The Bears have 10 total weekly honors in 2018, with five Player of the Week awards as well.

The Bears (18-4) play host to the 2018 MPSF Championships this week at Spieker Aquatics Complex, with action taking place Friday through Sunday. Cal is the second seed in the tournament and has a first-round bye. The Bears will advance straight to the semifinals, where they will play the winner of the first-round game between Stanford and San Jose State on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
