Ian Bunting To Join Cal In 2018
Golden Bears Have Added 24 Student-Athletes To Program Since First Day Of Early Signing Period Last December

Justin Wilcox announced Tuesday that tight end Ian Bunting will join the Cal football program for the 2018 season. Bunting is a graduate transfer from Michigan who has signed a financial aid agreement and has one season of college football eligibility remaining.
"Ian has played college football at the highest level and on its biggest stages for the last three seasons, and he has the ability to make an impact on our football program immediately," Wilcox said. "He is a versatile athlete that we expect to contribute to both our running and passing games with his blocking and pass-catching skills."
Bunting becomes the 24th student-athlete to sign a financial aid agreement or national letter of intent to join the Cal football program since the opening day of college football's newly established early signing period last December.

• Spent the past four seasons at Michigan and is on track to earn his bachelor's degree in Organizational Studies from the school in 2018
• Played in 34 games with eight starts and also contributed on special teams over his final three seasons with the Wolverines (2015-17) after redshirting in 2014
• A three-time letterwinner and Academic All-Big Ten honoree (2015-17) who contributed 11 career catches for 124 yards while also being credited with one tackle
• Recorded a career-best three receptions for 40 yards in a start vs. Florida State in the Orange Bowl as a 2016 junior
• Michigan posted a 28-11 record and made bowl games in each of the three campaigns in which he saw action (2015-17)
• A two-way prep player who reached the Class 8A Illinois State football playoffs in each of his three varsity seasons (2011-13)
• Contributed career totals of 27 receptions for 583 yards, four touchdowns and one two-point conversion catch on offense
• Had career totals of 14 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, two fumble recoveries, one quarterback hurry and two pass breakups on defense with all of his defensive stats other than one tackle, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery recorded as a 2013 senior
• A unanimous four-star recruit who ranked as high the sixth-best player in the nation at his position in the 2014 recruiting class according to both 247Sports (tight end) and ESPN (tight end-H), while ESPN also had him at No. 200 nationally among all players in the class
