Cal Ready For Conference Championships
GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The Cal women's rowing team returns to the familiar shores of Lake Natoma this weekend for the 2018 Pac-12 Rowing Championships, with racing beginning on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. PT. The Golden Bears, ranked second in the nation, are looking for their 13
th conference title overall and third in the last four seasons, capturing back-to-back Pac-12 titles in 2015 and 2016.

Pac-12 Facebook Page beginning at 12 p.m. PT. Â While there will be no live video coverage of the championships, the Pac-12 Network will air a tape-delayed broadcast of the event on Sunday, May 20, at 11 a.m. PT.

The Pac-12 Championship field features five teams ranked in the USRowing Coaches' Poll in No. 1 Washington, No. 2 Cal, No. 5 Stanford, No. 12 USC, and No. 15 Washington State. UCLA and Oregon State are also receiving votes in the latest USRowing/CRCA Coaches' Poll.
Cal is coming off another successful regular season campaign which saw the Bears test their speed and depth against crews from across the country. The varsity eight went undefeated during the regular season and registered key wins in duals over Washington and Stanford. In their most recent outing, the Bears completed a sweep at the Big Row, topping the Cardinal in all four races.
Sunday's racing will kick off at 9:00 a.m. PT with the women's novice eight followed by the men's varsity four at 9:15 a.m. The regatta will culminate with the finals for the women's and men's varsity eight at 11:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., respectively.
Cal took second overall to Washington at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships, after winning the varsity eight, second varsity eight, and varsity four races en route to the overall team title in 2016.
Following the Pac-12 Championships, the Bears will turn their preparations to the 2018 NCAA Women's Rowing Championships, hosted May 25-27 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida. The selection show for the 2018 NCAA Championships will be streamed on NCAA.com at 2 p.m. PT on Tuesday, May 15. Cal won the NCAA Championship in 2016 and has placed in the top three each of the last 10 seasons, including a second-place result in 2017.
