Biography
Cal Success:
- Closed a tremendous Cal career with a fantastic senior season, earning All-America honors in the 100 and 200 breast as well as the 200 and 400 medley relay.
- Teamed with Daniel Carr, Justin Lynch and Ryan Hoffer to set an American record in the 200 medley relay at the 2018 NCAA Championships. Swam the breaststroke leg for a quartet that finished in 1:21.88 to break the mark of 1:22.40 previously held by Cal's Ryan Murphy, Chuck Katis, Lynch and Tyler Messerschmidt.
- Finished the 2018 NCAA Championships as Cal's second-leading point scorer with 30 team points to his credit.Â
- Placed second in the 100 breast (51.16) and sixth in the 200 breast (1:52.69) at the 2018 NCAA Championships.
- Ended his Cal career third on the school's all-time 100 breaststroke list and seventh on the 200 breast list. Also left Cal with the school record in the 200 medley relay (2018)Â and second in the 400 medley relay (2017).
- Claimed his second individual conference title at the 2018 Pac-12 Championships, winning the 100 breaststroke.
- One of the top breaststrokers in the Pac-12 played a critical role for the Bears in the 2017 postseason, earning All-America honors in the 400 medley relay, 200 medley relay and 100 breast.
- Made the "A" final in the 100 breast and was an important point-scorer at the 2017 NCAA Championships, placing fourth with a season-best time of 51.41.
- Helped Cal place second in the 400 medley relay and third in the 200 medley relay at the 2017 NCAA Championships.
- Helped Cal win the 200 medley relay at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships.
- Won his first individual Pac-12 title as a sophomore in 2016, claiming the conference crown in the 100 breaststroke. Also won a second conference title as part of the winning 400 medley relay team.
- Made a big impact on the scoresheet for the Bears at the 2016 NCAA Championships, making the "B" final in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke and scoring a combined 11 team points in the two events. Also contributed on the 200 medley relay team that finished second.
- Time of 51.86 to win the Pac-12 title in the 100 breast was the team's fastest in the event in 2016. Also had the team's second-fastest time in the 200 breast.
- Made an impact right away for the Bears as a freshman in 2014-15, qualifying for the NCAA championships in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke.
- Had the team's second-best time in the 100 breaststroke (52.72) and fourth-best in the 200 breaststroke (1:56.37) in 2015.
- Placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke and also competed in the 50 freestyle and 200 breaststroke at the 2015 Pac-12 championships.
High School/Club/National Success:
- Attended Golden Valley High School in Merced, Calif. where he earned All-American honors and set the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section record in the 100 breaststroke.
- Also swam for the Clovis Swim Team and placed eighth in the 100 breaststroke at the 2013 Junior Nationals.
- Also played for the Golden Valley water polo team.
