No. 17 Women's Gymnastics Falls to Cal State Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton defeated No. 17 California, 194.750 to 192.600, in women's gymnastics competition Saturday night at Titan Gymnasium.

Sophomores Lisa Arnold and Janet McKnight led the Bears in the vault event tying for first place with a score of 9.825.

Unfortunately, the bright spots for Cal ended there as no one on the Bears squad scored higher than a 9.825 the rest of the way.

Senior co-captain Pari Olver and sophomore co-captain Carrie Kreifels tied for third place on the bars with a mark of 9.825 while CSF's Joanna Hughes and Jamie Moody came in first place (9.875).

Olver also took third in the floor exercise scoring a 9.800 and took second place on the beam (9.825).

The Titan's Kelly Mathiasen took the all-around with a score of 39.300. Olver (38.700) and Kreifels (38.025) finished in consecutive spots for the second meet in a row, but finished two-three instead of placing as the top two finishers.

Cal sets to host Washington and UC Davis Friday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
