WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sophomore midfielder Julianne Wu notched four goals and two assists while sophomore Emily Edwards and freshman Molly Brady each netted a hat trick as the Golden Bears (7-2, 4-1 in MPLL) rolled past Howard (0-8), 16-10, Tuesday afternoon in Washington D.C.

The Bears jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the first nine and the half minutes before Bison attacker Chizoba Egbuonu scored the second and third goals for the team to pull them within one, 4-3. Wu and senior co-captain Halsey Monger scored the next two Bear goals to put them up by three, 6-3. The Lady Bison would not back down, though, as Eva Okereke scored two goals within the last two minutes of the half to pull Howard within one going into intermission, 6-5.

Cal picked up the scoring attack early in the second half, scoring four consecutive goals to pull ahead by five, 10-5. The Lady Bison would net their first goal of the second half, as Egbuonu scored the third of her four goals on the day, at the 23:48 mark. Senior attacker Laura Kado scored two of the Bears next three goals to put them ahead by seven, 13-6. The Lady Bison would then score three consecutive goals over the next eight minutes to pull within four, 13-9. But the Bears offensive firepower proved too much for the Lady Bison, as Cal closed the match out by scoring three of four goals to defeat Howard by 6, 16-10.

The Bears face Maryland-Baltimore County, Friday March 29 at 12:30 p.m. (PT), in Baltimore, MD.
