WASHINGTON, D.C. - The California lacrosse team wrapped up its East Coast trip with an 18-6 loss to George Washington on Wednesday afternoon at Mount Vernon Field. The Golden Bears fell to 4-6 overall, while the Colonials improved to 4-6.

Junior midfielder Laura Cavallo led Cal with three goals, including two in the second half in the non-conference game. Colonials senior attacker Colleen Schmidt led all scorers with six points from a career-high five goals and one assist.

After Cal evened the game at 2-2 on goals by Cavallo and junior attacker Liz Reifsnyder, George Washington erupted for eight goals to lead 10-3 at the half.

Cavallo scored her team-leading 15th and 16th goals of the season and freshman teammate Madeleine Dale scored her ninth goal of the season in the second half, as GW went on to outscore Cal, 8-3, and wrap up the game, 18-6.

Cal still holds a 2-1 lead in the all-time series with GW.

The Bears face MPSF-rival Denver Sunday at 1 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in their regular-season home finale.
