Cal Continues Play at ASU Thunderbird Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - California women's tennis sophomore Tayler Davis was eliminated from contention in the singles quarterfinal of the 16th annual Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational at the Whiteman Tennis Complex on Saturday, Nov. 6. The second-year Golden Bear went up against ASU's Jacqueline Cako and surrendered a 6-1, 6-0 loss.

Sophomore Annie Goransson drew Arizona State's Hannah James in her first-round consolation match, but was defeated, 6-4, 6-0. Junior Stephany Chang faced ASU's Michelle Brycki in her first-round consolation match, but was turned away, 6-0, 6-3. Chang drew Ohio State's Cami Hubbs in the consolation bracket's back-draw, but lost, 6-1, 6-1. Junior Catalina Visico took the court against Arizona State's Sianna Simmons in her consolation match. Simmons came away with a 6-0, 6-2 win. In doubles matches, Davis and Goransson fell to Brooke Bolender and Whitney Taney of Michigan, 8-2.
