TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Anu Solomon hit Austin Hill on a 47-yard Hail Mary on the game's final play and Arizona scored 36 points in the fourth quarter to pull off an improbable 49-45 win over California Saturday night.

Cal (2-1, 0-1 Pac-12) threatened to turn Arizona's whiteout into a blowout, deflating the Wildcats and their white-shirt-wearing fans with two quick scores and a 22-point halftime lead.

Daniel Lasco scored on a 44-yard run on the game's third play to give the Golden Bears a quick 7-0 lead. Less than three minutes later, quarterback Jared Goff connected with Bryce Treggs for an 80-yard strike, and suddenly Cal led, 14-0, with 11:53 still on the first-yard clock.

Second-quarter TD passes from Goff to Stephen Anderson (26 yards) and Chris Harper (30 yards) gave the Bears a 28-6 advantage at the half.

Arizona (4-0, 1-0), though, charged back behind Solomon, who threw for 520 yards and had four of his five touchdown passes in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats recovered an onside kick after Cal was called for a batting penalty and pulled within 2 at 45-43 after Solomon hit Cayleb Jones on a 15-yard scoring pass. The tying two-point conversion failed.

Cal recovered the subsequent onside kick and moved the ball to the Arizona 29, but James Langford missed on a 47-yard field goal attempt with just 52 seconds left. The Wildcats got the ball to the Cal 47 with four seconds on the clock and pulled off the miracle when Hill brought the ball down between five Cal defenders.
