Cal-USC Postgame Notes

With California's 87-65 win over USC, the Golden Bears finish their home slate this season 18-0 at Haas Pavilion, which is the best single-season home record ever at Haas Pavilion. The Bears are enjoying a 19-game overall home winning streak dating back to last season. The home winning streak ranks second longest in school history. Tonight was also Cal's sixth 20-point victory of the season.

Cal finished 9-0 on the home court in Pac-12 play this season. The last time the Bears enjoyed a nine-game home conference winning streak was when Cal won 12 home Pac-12 games with five at the end of the 2001-02 campaign and the first seven of the 2002-03 season. The last time the Bears won nine or more consecutive home conference games in a single season was the 1959-60 season when Cal also won nine home conference games.  

Five Bears reached double figures in scoring, led by 18 each from Jaylen Brown and Ivan Rabb, 17 from Jordan Mathews and 12 each from Tyrone Wallace and Jabari Bird. It was the 19th time this season that the Bears have had at least four players reach double figures in scoring, and the seventh time they've had five. Brown notched 15 of his points in the first half, while Bird secured 10 of his points in the opening half.

The game was tied at 26 at the 8:18 mark in the first half when Cal went on a 14-0 run to take a 40-26 lead over a seven-minute span before the Trojans ended their scoring drought. Cal opened up the second half on a 16-6 run to maintain control of the game.

Wallace now has 1,568 career points, which ranks ninth on Cal's career scoring list, surpassing Brian Hendrick (1990-93) and his 1,556 career points. Now with 419 career assists, Wallace moved up to seventh on the school's career assist list. Jorge Gutierrez (2009-12) is sixth with 423. Tonight was also Wallace's 125th career game played, which ranks tied for ninth in school history with Theo Robertson (2006-10).

With 10 rebounds today, Rabb now has 241 on the season, which ranks fifth on the school's freshman list. Hendrick is fourth with 242. Along with his 18 points, tonight marked Rabb's ninth double-double of the season.

For the first time this season Brown connected on three treys in a game, shooting 3-for-7 from three-point distance. He also tied his season high in blocks for the fourth time with two.

With four three-pointers today, Mathews' 187 career three-pointers rank fourth on the school's career list. Allen Crabbe (2011-13) is third with 209. It was the seventh time this season that Mathews has connected on at least four treys in a game. He now has a career total of 1,121 points. That mark ranks 34th all-time at Cal. Harper Kamp (2008-12) is 33rd with 1,133.

Cal reached the 40-point plateau in the first half for the 11th time this season. Taking a 44-30 lead into the break, this was the 10th time this season that the Bears held a double-digit lead at halftime. Cal is now 9-0 this year when the Bears scored 40 first-half points and held a double-digit lead at halftime.

With Cal's win, the Bears now lead the all-time series against USC, 134-132. The Bears have won the last five meetings against the Trojans at Haas Pavilion.
