Weaver Named Pac-12 Player Of The Week
Junior Inside Linebacker Took First Career Interception To The House In Saturday’s 12-10 Win Over No. 15/13 Washington
SAN FRANCISCO – Evan Weaver was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday. Weaver returned his first career interception 37 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter of Cal's 12-10 victory last Saturday over No. 15/13 Washington. He finished with a team-high 11 tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss (-2 yards) and one pass breakup as the Golden Bears won for the first time when not scoring an offensive touchdown since 1998.
Weaver is the first Cal player to earn a weekly award from the Pac-12 in 2018.
Jordan Kunaszyk was the last Golden Bear to earn a weekly honor from the conference when he was named the Pac-12's Defensive Player of the Week on October 16, 2017.
Weaver was also named the College Sports Madness Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday.

• Has started all eight games as a 2018 junior and ranks fifth in the country with 6.5 solo tackles per game and tied for 17th in total tackles with 10.8 per contest
• Has recorded career highs of 86 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss (-19 yards), one interception that he returned for 37 yards and a score, and five pass breakups as well as a career-high-tying 1.5 sacks (-8 yards) as a junior
• Has had six double-digit tackle games as a junior including each of the first four (North Carolina, at BYU, Idaho State, Oregon) and the last two (at Oregon State, Washington)
• Has led or co-led the team in tackles six times as a junior
• Has played in 31 of 32 possible games with 12 starts in his collegiate career and posted totals of 157 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss (-29 yards), 3.0 sacks (-15 yards), one interception that he returned for 37 yards, seven pass breakups and one quarterback hurry
