Bears Set For Under-23 World Championships

Cal Contingent Heads To Florida As Competition Begins Wednesday

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Cal women's rowing team will be well-represented this week as the Under-23 World Rowing Championship begins on Wednesday at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida. Racing begins on Wednesday with heats, while the finals are slated for Sunday. USRowing Productions will stream all five days of racing live on ESPN3, available on the ESPN app. The full schedule of racing, as well as line-ups and watch information can be found at WorldRowing.com.

Rising senior Kailani Marchak will be competing for Canada in the coxed four. Marchak was a mainstay in the Bears' varsity eight this season, helping the boat to an undefeated regular season and gold at the Pac-12 Championships.

Jane Perrignon and incoming Golden Bear Imogen Purcell will also be racing in the coxed four, competing for Australia. As a freshman, Perrignon earned a sport in the Bears' second varsity eight.

Rising junior Kendall Fearnley will be racing for the United States in the eight after winning bronze as the 6-seat in Cal's second varsity eight at the 2019 Pac-12 Championships. A Huntington Beach, California, native, Fearnley captured silver at the 2018 Pac-12 Championships in the Bears' varsity four.
