BERKELEY – No. 23 Oregon put the way away late thanks to a four-run ninth inning on Sunday, winning by a final score of 9-3 at Stu Gordon Stadium to take the series.
Cal (18-18, 6-15 Pac-12) collected 11 hits and scored three runs but could not get the big hit it needed, going 2-for-12 on the day with runners on base. A highlight reel catch by Oregon's center fielder Colby Shade robbed
Kade Kretzschmar of a potential three-run home run that would have made it 5-4 in the fourth inning.
Kretzschmar finished 1-for-4 on the day with a run scored. He hit a triple in the fourth and scored on a wild pitch for the Golden Bears' first run of the game.
Caleb Lomavita went 3-for-5, he led off the ninth inning with his eighth home run of the season.

Nathan Manning, and
Nico Button all finished with multiple hits.
Peyton Schulze went 1-for-5 to extend his hitting streak to eight games and his reached base safely streak to 16 games.
Oregon (26-12, 11-7 Pac-12) scored a run in the first, three in the fourth, and a run in the fifth, but put the game away with a four-run ninth inning. Rikuu Nishida led off the frame with a solo home run to right, his third of the season. RBI singles by Drew Cowley and Tanner Smith and an RBI double by Jacob Walsh capped off the scoring for the Ducks.
Shade went 3-for-5 for Oregon with two runs scored. Cowley was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Smith was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Bennett Thompson was 1-for-3 with a two-run double in the third that gave the Ducks a three-run cushion.
Neither starter made it out of the fourth inning.
Connor Sullivan (2-3) got the start for the Bears. He went 4.1 innings, allowing six hits, five runs (three earned) with two strikeouts.
Tucker Bougie was roughed up for the four runs in the ninth inning.
Matthew Grabmann started the game for the Ducks. The freshman went four complete and allowed four hits and an earned run with three strikeouts. Turner Spoljaric (3-0) got the win, he pitched two innings in relief, allowing three hits a run with a strikeout.
