Training camps across the WNBA begin Sunday

Former Bears Prepare for 2023 WNBA Season
Anigwe, Clarendon, Gray, Range Start Training Camp Sunday
The California women's basketball team will have four former players in various WNBA training camps when they begin Sunday for the 2023 season.
Kristine Anigwe, the ninth overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft, will be in camp with the Chicago Sky. The 2019 Naismith National Defensive Player of the Year and Cal's all-time career leader in points, rebounds and blocks, Anigwe has spent four seasons in the WNBA, most recently with the Phoenix Mercury in 2022. She is currently playing overseas with the Passalacqua Ragusa in the Italy-Serie A1, where she is averaging 16.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.
Layshia Clarendon, the ninth overall pick in 2013, will be in camp with the Los Angeles Sparks. A 2013 AP and WBCA All-America Honorable Mention, Clarendon is fifth on Cal's all-time career scoring list and had a huge role in leading the Bears to their first-ever Final Four appearance in 2013. They have spent nine years in the WNBA, most recently with the Minnesota Lynx in 2021 and appeared in 239 games with 127 starts. Clarendon just finished a stint in the new Athletes Unlimited league where they averaged 10.9 PPG and 3.1 RBG, while ranking sixth in the league in assists. They also serve as the WNBPA Vice President and were a founding member of the WNBA Social Justice Council.
Reshanda Gray, the 16
th overall pick in 2015, will join Clarendon in the Sparks' training camp. The 2015 Pac-12 Player of the Year, Gray is sixth on Cal's all-time career scoring and rebounding lists. She has spent six seasons in the WNBA, most recently with the Phoenix Mercury in 2022, and has appeared in 141 games with 16 starts. Gray is currently playing overseas for Ormanspor in Turkish KBSL where she is averaging 19.5 PPG and 7.7 RBG.
Courtney Range will be in camp with the defending WNBA Champion Las Vegas Aces. While with the Bears, Range was named to the 2016 Naismith Trophy Top 50 Watch List and was a two-time All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. She most recently played overseas for BCF Elfric Fribourg in the Swiss Basketball league, which won the Swiss Cup in March. She was a major contributor for Fribourg, which just captured the Swiss Basketball League Championship last week, taking three straight games in a best-of-five series. Range averaged 21.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists in those finals.
