Cal Sends Four To Thousand Oaks

BERKELEY — With the ITA All-American Championships coming to a close, the California men's tennis team will send a contingent of student-athletes to compete in the Sherwood Collegiate Cup at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California. The tournament, which begins Friday, will be played in a hidden dual format. The Bears will play athletes from more than 10 teams over the course of the event.

Junior Alex Aney will be the only Golden Bear returning to the Sherwood Collegiate Cup. Last year, he played four singles matches and three doubles matches, finishing with a record of 2-2 and 2-1, respectively.

Aney will be joined by returning sophomore Bernardo Munk Mesa, transfer sophomore Paris Pouatcha and freshman Winston Lee. Munk Mesa and Pouatcha will both play for the first time since the main draw of the Battle in the Bay Classic, which ended on September 14th.
