3 Golden Bears Record First Career Dual-Meet Victories

BERKELEY – Three members of the No. 5 California men's swimming & diving team registered their first career dual-meet victories Thursday and sophomore Zachary Tan was a triple-winner as the Golden Bears celebrated Senior Day with a 205-54 victory over Pacific at Spieker Aquatics Complex.

Junior Nikolas Antoniou, sophomore Carter Lancaster and freshman Julien Rousseau each triumphed in individual races for the first time in their Golden Bear careers. Antoniou won the 100-yard freestyle with an NCAA-qualifying time of 42.55, Lancaster took the 200 individual medley in 1:47.77 and Rousseau captured the 500 freestyle with a mark of 4:18.37.

Tan began the meet by swimming the breaststroke leg of Cal's winning 200 medley relay team and then followed up with victories in the 100 (52.14) and 200 breaststroke (1:55.07). Freshman Ryan Erisman was a double individual winner, capturing the 200 freestyle with an NCAA-qualifying time of 1:33.28 while also taking the 200 backstroke in 1:45.03.

Evan Petty, one of nine seniors honored before the meet for participating in their final event at Spieker Aquatics Complex, touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle (19.60) while also swimming the backstroke leg of the 200 medley relay.

Graduate transfer Eduardo Moreas, who joined the Bears for the spring semester from Michigan, reeled off the ninth-fastest time ever at Cal in winning the 1,000 freestyle (8:54.09).

Matteo Palmisani (200 butterfly – 1:43.14) and Casper Puggaard (100 butterfly – 45.69) also registered NCAA-qualifying times in winning their respective events.

Petty and Moreas were joined by Nathan Wiffen, Andrew Hallet, Luca Pusateri Gissendaner, Colby Hatton, Tommy Roder, Hank Rivers and diver Joshua Thai in the pre-meet senior ceremony.

The Bears close out the regular season Friday with a dual meet at No. 8 Stanford at 1 p.m. PT.
