THE BEARS VS. THE TIGERS
Clemson ranks 16th in the Road to Nationals weekly rankings, also checking in at 16th in the floor exercise, 17th on beam, 12th on uneven bars and 24th on vault. The Tigers are coming off a win over North Carolina at their home venue last weekend.
Â
The Bears and the Tigers have met twice before, first in a dual meet hosted in Berkeley last season and again at the 2025 ACC Championships. Cal outscored Clemson at both meetings. This will be the first time the Bears compete against their former co-head coaches Justin Howell and Elisabeth Crandall-Howell since the pair took the same positions at Clemson this season.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
Cal posted its best score of the season despite falling to No. 9 Stanford last week on The Farm, 196.975-196.825. The Bears also recorded season bests on three of the four events (V - 49.275, BB - 49.125, FX - 49.175) and won both the vault and balance beam rotations.
Â
Tonya Paulsson took silver in the all-around, while
Annalise Newman-Achee claimed third place.
Kyen Mayhew won the vault title outright, while Paulsson stood alone in first place on floor.

PAULSSON NAMED ACC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Freshman standout
Tonya Paulsson was named the ACC Newcomer of the Week, the second weekly conference honor of her career after earning the same recognition following the season opener on Jan. 6.
Â
Paulsson claimed her second podium finish in as many meets when she took silver in the all-around with a career-high 39.400 at Stanford. This was only her second meet competing in the all-around after claiming gold the week prior in California's home opener versus NC State on Jan. 24.
Â
Against the Cardinal, Paulsson posted a career-high 9.900 on floor exercise to win the event title outright and help the Bears to their highest team floor score of the season (49.175). She also clinched a pair of second-place finishes on vault and uneven bars at the Big Meet. Her vault was awarded a 9.875, which was a personal best and helped Cal win the rotation over Stanford with its best vault score of 2026 (49.275). Paulsson's uneven bars routine – which she punctuated with a stuck dismount – received a 9.925. It was her third time scoring a 9.925 or higher on uneven bars this season.
Â
Following week four, Paulsson is ranked in the top 100 on three events in the weekly Road to Nationals rankings. She ties for 17th in the all-around, ties for 31st on uneven bars and shares 88th place on floor exercise nationally.
Â
ALL-AROUNDER ANNALISE
Annalise Newman-Achee has collected five all-around podium finishes in as many meets, taking gold at Pitt, silver at the Best of the West and versus NC State, and bronze at Stanford and the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad. She began competing in the all-around this season after primarily featuring on uneven bars last season. Last week, she matched her career high on beam with a 9.900 and kept her streak of five straight 9.800-plus uneven bars routines. Newman-Achee ranks 33rd nationally in the all-around.
Â
MAYHEW WINS THREE STRAIGHT VAULT TITLES
Kyen Mayhew won the vault event title outright at Stanford after sharing the gold with fellow Bear
Casey Brown at both of the previous two meets. Mayhew performed a season-best 9.900 and ties for 62nd in the national rankings with a 9.830 average.
Â
BROWN DELIVERS BACK-TO-BACK STICKS AT STANFORD
Casey Brown stuck her dismount on uneven bars before delivering a stuck landing on vault in back-to-back rotations on The Farm. She received a 9.800 on vault and a 9.900 on bars, her second score that was 9.900 or above on bars this season. She also competed in her career-first floor routine at Stanford.
Â
LEE'S BEAM A CAREER-BEST
Sarah Lee notched her career high on balance beam at Stanford with a 9.875. The freshman has competed as part of the Bears' beam lineup in every meet this season and helped Cal to its strongest team score on the event with a 49.125 at Stanford.
