Spring 2018: Completed his college career at NCAAs at Wake Forest, with Griffith playing in both the singles and doubles tournaments…he won his singles round of 64 match, upsetting Kentucky’s eighth-ranked and eighth-seeded Ryotaro Matsumura, 6-4, 6-3, but fell to Arkansas’ 18th-ranked Jose Salazar, 6-1, 7-5, in the round of 32…Griffith ended the season with a No. 41 singles ranking and a 16-14 record…in NCAA doubles, he paired with J.T. Nishimura to face North Carolina’s second-seeded and second-ranked William Blumberg and Robert Kelly, with the Golden Bears falling to the Tar Heels, 6-4, 6-4, in the round of 32…the Cal duo wound up with a No. 52 final ranking…Griffith – who partnered with Nishimura all season – posted a 23-13 doubles record in his last year as a Bear...he defeated seven opponents who were likewise ranked to end the season; besides Matsumura, they included Stanford’s 13th-ranked Tom Fawcett, Oregon’s 22nd-ranked Thomas Laurent and Washington’s 46th-ranked Jake Douglas…Griffith and Nishimura beat four ranked opponents, including Baylor’s 17th-ranked Will Little and Johannes Schretter (who were ranked No. 2 at the time) and Michigan’s 33rd-ranked Runhao Hua and Alex Knight (who were ranked ninth in that match)…Griffith and Nishimura reached the quarterfinals of the Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship in March...Griffith posted career records of 86-41 in singles and 57-33 in doubles at Cal.
Fall 2017: Entered the season with a No. 49 singles ranking in the Oracle ITA poll…was 7-5 in singles and 11-5 in doubles with partner J.T. Nishimura…won his first five singles matches of the season…went 2-1 in the Oracle ITA Masters as he reached the quarterfinals, with Griffith falling to Wake Forest’s fourth-ranked Petros Chrysochos, 6-4, 6-2…also went 2-1 in singles in the ITA Northwest Regional Championships to reach the round of 16…ended his fall competing in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships…Griffith and Nishimura earned a No. 52 ranking in the Oracle ITA doubles poll in November, after they claimed No. 39 ranking in the preseason poll…the two seniors reached the doubles final at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, falling to Oregon’s 17th-ranked Cormac Clissold and Thomas Laurent, 6-2, 7-6(7)… the duo also competed in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships and Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships
Spring 2017: Finished his junior season with a 26-8 singles record (as well as a No. 86 final singles ranking) and 20-7 doubles mark…partnered with Andre Goransson for all his doubles matches, and the duo – which had an 11-3 court-two record – ended the year with a No. 79 doubles ranking…his career records include 70-27 in singles and 34-20 in doubles…in singles in 2016-17, Griffith posted a 7-4 record on court three and a 7-2 court-four record…clinched four dual matches, beating Lautare Pane,  6-4, 7-6(5), in a 4-2 win at Pepperdine, Simon Freund, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4, in a 4-3 win over UCSB, Shoti Meparidze, 6-0, 6-2, in a 4-0 win over Arizona and Enzo Sommer, 6-2, 6-4, in a 4-1 win at Washington…the win over Meparidze marked Griffith’s lone court-one singles match this season...in doubles, Griffith and Goransson won their last match, in Cal’s 4-1 loss to North Carolina in the NCAA round of 16…the Bears beat UNC’s 82nd-ranked Jack Murray and Simon Soendergaard, 6-3, on court two…their doubles matches in the rounds of 64 and 32 went unfinished…the duo also won its last match in the Pac-12 tournament, beating USC’s Nick Crystal and Laurens Verboven, 6-2, in the semifinals also on court two.
Fall 2016: Entered the fall ranked No. 61 in the nation…posted a 10-2 singles record…won three rounds at the ITA Men’s All-American Championships to qualify for the main draw…reached the round of 32 before falling to fifth-ranked Christopher Eubanks of Georgia Tech, 6-2, 6-3…reached the semifinals at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, falling to teammate Filip Bergevi, 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-4…partnering with Andre Goransson, posted a 7-2 record…gained acceptance into the qualifying draw of the ITA Men’s All-American Championships, winning two rounds…the duo reached the semifinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, falling to the Oregon pair of Jayson Amos and Simon Stevens, 8-6.
Spring 2016: Griffith had a breakout season as a sophomore…he ultimately posted a 27-8 singles record – including 7-3 at court three – and finished the season ranked 95th… in doubles, Griffith had a 6-9 record…his singles campaign included a 6-0, 6-2 victory over David Mitchell in Cal’s 4-0 victory over Army West Point in the NCAA team tournament’s round of 64 in Berkeley…Griffith clinched some big matches, including the 4-1 upset of second-seeded USC in the Pac-12 semifinals that led Cal to its first appearance in the Conference final…he beat the Trojans’ 59th-ranked Logan Smith, 6-4, 6-2, at court-three singles in the tournament in Ojai, California…Griffith also clinched Cal’s 4-1 win over No. 21 Baylor in the BNP Paribas Open Collegiate Challenge presented by Oracle, beating the 56th-ranked Max Tchoutakian, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, on court two…he claimed his first Pac-12 Player of the Week honor after his performances in the Texas road trip…in Austin, the 39th-ranked Griffith clinched the overall match over No. 26 Texas with his court-four singles win over Adrian Ortiz, 7-5, 1-6, 6-3…he also won in doubles with J.T. Nishimura, as the Cal sophomores beat Rodrigo Banzer and Harrison Scott, 6-1, on court three…the next day at the Longhorns' Weller Indoor Tennis Center, Griffith upset the 24th-ranked Guillermo Nunez, 6-4, 6-4, on court three as No. 24 Cal upset No. 2 TCU, 4-2.

Fall 2015: Griffith emerged this past fall, reaching the singles quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships and winning the singles title at the Porsche Napa Valley Tennis Classic and claiming the top-flight crowns at the UCSB Classic…seeded ninth in singles in the regional, he reached the quarterfinals after upsetting Stanford’s fifth-seeded and 96th-ranked David Hsu, 6-1, 6-2, in the round of 16…Griffith took Washington’s second-seeded and 62nd-ranked Mitch Stewart to three sets before falling in the regional quarters, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3…in the Napa tournament, which Cal hosted at the Meadowood Napa Valley Resort, Griffith upset 36th-ranked teammate Florian Lakat, 10-6, for the singles title…Griffith also knocked off Stanford’s David Wilczynski – who ended the season ranked 91st – 6-4, 6-1, on the way to the Napa final…he beat Oregon’s Daan Maasland, 6-2, 6-2, to triumph in Santa Barbara.
Spring 2015: Posted a 17-11 singles record and 8-4 doubles mark in his first year as a Golden Bear…claimed his first Pac-12 Player of the Week honor after clinching his first Big Slam, beating Cardinal junior Nolan Paige, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4, on court five at April 18 at Stanford…in his first postseason tournament, he clinched Cal’s 4-0 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the NCAA round of 64, defeating Paul Cook, 6-2, 6-1, on court six…in singles, played on courts two through six during the dual-match season, posting a 3-0 record on two, and a 2-0 record on six…was 8-8 in dual matches and 9-3 in tournaments…in doubles, Griffith posted a 7-1 record with J.T. Nishimura…the freshmen beat Purdue’s Lucas Dages/Mateus Silva, 6-2, in the doubles consolation semifinals of the BNP Paribas Collegiate Challenge presented by Oracle.
Fall 2014: Won the first five singles matches of his college career and wound up with a 7-2 singles record in the fall…advanced to the singles round of 16 in the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships before losing to Pacific’s Sem Verbeek, 6-3, 6-4…in the Battle in the Bay Classic, Griffith got to the singles quarterfinals, in which he lost to teammate Andre Goransson 7-5, 4-6, 6-2…had a 3-2 fall record in doubles…paired with fellow freshman J.T. Nishimura to reach the doubles round of 32 in the regional championships, falling to Stanford’s Robert Stineman/Yale Goldberg, 8-4.
Personal/Previous: Social welfare major…the Tennis Recruiting Network ranked the Clovis West High School product as the third-best recruit in the nation and the second-best recruit from California…reached the quarterfinals of the 2014 USTA Boys’ 18 and 16 National Clay Court Championships…in his first International Tennis Federation event in March of 2013, Griffith won the singles final of the Claremont ITF over current UCLA Bruin Gage Brymer, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(5)…in early 2013, Griffith reached the boys’ 18 consolation singles final in the USTA National Winter Championships, and in 2012, he won the boys’ 16 singles consolation bracket at the USTA National Championships…won the Maze Cup with the NorCal team in 2012 and 2013…on the NorCal National Team in 2013 and 2014 and on the NorCal Zonal Team in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2014…after his junior year at Clovis West, the Fresno Bee named Griffith its Boys Tennis Player of the Year after he compiled a 27-1 singles record and 19-1 doubles mark…his Clovis West team won the Valley championship from 2011-2013 and posted a 36-1 record over that span…Griffith posted a 65-1 singles record and 42-2 doubles mark over those three seasons…parents are Bill and Elvera Griffith…Bill Griffith ran track for Fresno State…siblings are Stacey and Blair…grandfather William Ray Griffith is a Cal alumnus.
