Denise Wescott

Denise Wescott is currently the interim head coach at Cal having assumed the role on June 29, 2022. Wescott joined the Cal coaching staff in the fall of 2018 and spent her first three seasons (2019-21) in Berkeley as an assistant coach before being promoted to associate head coach on January 26, 2022. Wescott has been a collegiate lacrosse coach for 30 seasons a previous 26-year run as a head coach from 1989-2015 with stints at Drew (1989-90), Rutgers (1991-93), Delaware (1994-2004), Mount St. Mary's (2005-09) and Monmouth (2010-15)

Other
– Inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2018 after earlier inductions into Lacrosse Halls of Fame for the states of Delaware and New Jersey
– Winner of the IWLCA's Diane Geppi-Aikens Lifetime Achievement College Coaching Award
– Named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Regional and Northeast Conference Coach of the Year in 2013.
– Also served as the head coach for the German National and World Cup teams from 1996-2005 and the Director of Lacrosse for the Capital Lacrosse Club from 2015-18

Playing Career
– A four-year starting goalkeeper and captain at Maryland in both field hockey and lacrosse who helped the Terrapins to a 50-11-1 overall record and three AIAW Tournament appearances in lacrosse by totaling 519 saves and a 6.99 goals against average 
– Named to the USWLA All-Star team and USWLA Final Four All-Tournament squad in 1980
