One of the most explosive sprinters in Cal history, Atlee Mahorn was a two-time first-team All-American and multiple-time Pac-10 champion from 1986-90. He still holds the program's 200-meter record at 20.20 seconds, a mark that placed him second at the 1988 NCAA Championships, and his 10.18 in the 100 meters stood as the school record for 38 years before finally being broken in 2024. Born in Clarendon, Jamaica, before immigrating to Canada, Mahorn went on to represent his adopted country at three consecutive Olympic Games — 1984, 1988 and 1992 — finishing fifth in the 200 meters at the 1988 Seoul Games. He captured gold in the 200 meters at the 1986 Commonwealth Games and later won bronze medals in the 200 meters and 4x100 relay at the 1991 and 1993 World Championships, respectively, establishing himself as one of Canada's premier sprinters for nearly a decade.
