California Athletics Hall of Fame
A three-time individual and three-time relay NCAA champion at Cal, Caitlin Leverenz Smith was named the 2012 Pac-12 Swimmer of the Year and won the Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate swimmer after sweeping the 200 individual medley and 200 breaststroke at that year's NCAA Championships. She was a key contributor to two Cal NCAA team championships and was later named the 2013 Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Leverenz represented the United States at the 2012 London Olympics, winning a bronze medal in the 200 IM after finishing first in the event at Olympic Trials, and went on to a decorated international career that included 17 World Championship medals. She was also the top American finisher on the Arena Pro Swim Series for two consecutive seasons before retiring from professional swimming in 2017.
