One of the more versatile student-athletes in school history, Lucchesi earned four letters in gymnastics and swimming and was named an All-American in both 1948 and 1949 … at the NCAA championships, he finished second on the trampoline in 1948 and placed third on the trampoline and tumbling in 1949 … he was a two-time Pacific Coast Conference champion in both tumbling (1946-47) and trampoline (1948-49), and was the PCC runner-up in tumbling in both 1948-49 … Lucchesi also was an accomplished diver on the Cal swimming team in 1948-49, and later became one of the top senior tennis players in Northern California.
