California Athletics Hall of Fame
The founding head coach of Cal women's golf, Nancy McDaniel built the program from scratch starting in 1995, leading the Bears to 10 NCAA Championship appearances and 23 NCAA Regional appearances over 29 seasons. She guided Cal to its first Pac-10 title in 2003, a season that also brought her National Golf Coaches Association Coach of the Year and LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Coach of the Year honors, and she was twice named Pac-12 Coach of the Year. Her 2002-03 squad posted a nation-best seven tournament victories and reached a program-best No. 2 national ranking, and the Bears followed with three straight top-five NCAA Championship finishes from 2004-06. Over her career, McDaniel coached 17 All-Americans and 43 All-Pac-10/12 selections, including Pia Halbig and Sarah Huarte. She was inducted into the Women's Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2016 and the National Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2024.
