One of the most decorated oarsmen in Cal rowing history, Scott Frandsen helped the Bears' varsity eight capture three consecutive IRA national championships from 2000-02, including a pair of undefeated seasons, while earning first-team All-Pac-10 honors as a senior and serving as team captain. A native of Kelowna, British Columbia, he graduated from the Haas School of Business in 2002 with a degree in business administration and was a two-time Pac-10 All-Academic honoree. He went on to complete a master's degree at Oxford University, where he rowed in the Blue Boat that won the 2003 Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race. Frandsen then built a decorated international career, competing at three Olympic Games — Athens, Beijing and London — and six World Championships, highlighted by a silver medal in the coxless pair at the 2008 Beijing Games and four World Cup gold medals. He returned to Cal in 2012 as an assistant coach and has since become the program's head coach, mentoring a new generation of Olympians.
