California Athletics Hall of Fame
The catalyst behind one of Cal baseball's most memorable runs, Tony Renda was named the 2011 Pac-10 Player of the Year after leading the conference in hits and guiding the Bears to an unlikely trip to the College World Series, then followed it with All-American honors as a junior in 2012. A three-time All-Pac-10 First Team selection, Renda finished his three-year Cal career as a .347 hitter with 244 hits, which ranked sixth on the school's all-time list at the time. He was chosen by the Washington Nationals in the second round of the 2012 MLB Draft and signed for a $500,000 bonus, going on to reach the major leagues in 2016. Renda played parts of two seasons in the majors with the Cincinnati Reds and Boston Red Sox before wrapping up his professional career in 2018.
