Sept. 29, 2001

STOCKTON, Calif. - California (6-2, 3-0) was limited to three shots for the entire game, but that's all it needed as the Bears converted on two shots to take the victory over host, Pacific (3-6, 2-2), 2-0, Saturday afternoon at Brookside Field.

Pacific dominated the first half and out shot the Bears 3-1, while holding California scoreless.

Both defenses dominated the game, as the two teams combined for only 10 shots on goal. The Tigers continued to out shoot the Bears in the second half and recorded four shots to Cal's one.

The Bears scored when sophomore Nora Feddersen beat the defenders and snuck a ball in the lower right corner of the goal with 14:40 remaining in the game to give Cal a 1-0 advantage.

With the Tigers pushed up in the offensive end, Cal added its second goal as Elizabeth Harkins capitalized on a break away for her league-leading sixth goal of the season. The insurance goal pushed the Bears ahead, 2-0, with 18 seconds remaining in the game.

Cal keeper Emily Rowlen made six saves to preserve the shutout, her second of the season and the team's third.

The Bears look to extend their regular season conference winning-streak to 16 games when Cal visits cross-bay rival Stanford Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. on the Varsity Field Hockey Turf.
