Field Hockey Blanked By Dartmouth, 3-0

Sept. 7, 2001

FENTON, Mo. - A day after California (3-2) and Saint Louis combined for eight goals in a display of the respective teams' offensive prowess, the Bears came up empty less then 24 hours later as Dartmouth (1-0) prevailed, 3-0, in a non-conference game at Anheuser-Busch Centre.

Cal and the Big Green remained dead-locked, 0-0, going into halftime intermission with the two teams combining for just four shots in the first stanza.

Dartmouth then came out in the second half and opened the scoring as Lauren Welsh scored with 25:05 left in the game. Lauren Talbot and Rebekka Stucker netted the insurance goals for the Big Green at 10:53 and 2:22, respectively.

Cal goalkeeper Emily Rowlen made three saves on the day and defender Alyssa Sprenger notched the first defensive save of her career. Sophomore Nora Feddersen led the Bears with four shots on goal. The Bears out shot Dartmouth 11-8, but Big Green goalkeeper Kirsten Anderson made eight saves on the day with six alone coming in the second half.

Cal wraps up its road trip Sunday versus Miami (OH) at 1 p.m. at the Anheuser-Busch Center.
